I am Minolfa Prieto, MD, PhD. I am an Associate Professor of Physiology at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana.

I received my M.D. degree, a Residency in Pediatrics, and a Clinical Fellowship in Medical Genetics from the University of Zulia in Venezuela.

I worked as a clinical geneticist for 10 years before moving to the U.S. where I joined Dr. L Gabriel Navar's laboratory and received a Ph.D. in Physiology from Tulane University SoM in 2004, followed by postdoctoral training before being appointed as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physiology at Tulane SoM. In 2015 I was promoted to Associate Professor!

I carry out research and teach graduate and medical students both physiology and Medical Spanish (a passion project I spearheaded for the school).
